CHA Canada, formerly Gryphon International Engineering Services, is a multi-discipline consulting engineering design firm dedicated to the thermal, power and energy industry. Based in Ontario, Canada, CHA Canada draws on the expertise and resourcefulness of its team to meet the needs of clients today and into the future.

Gryphon International Engineering Services merged with CHA Consulting, Inc. (CHA) in 2011, an Engineering News-Record (ENR) Top-100 multi-discipline engineering design firm headquartered in Albany, New York, and became CHA Canada in 2018 to align more closely with the CHA brand. Rich Rappa, PE, CEM | President | rrappa@chacompanies.com

Rich Rappa

Rich Rappa has more than 40 years of experience in operations management, plant engineering, energy efficiency, and global project/program management. He is a Senior Vice President and CHA’s Manufacturing and Energy Market Leader. In 2016, Rich became CHA Canada’s President and is actively involved in the development and execution of the strategy to advance our efforts in both U.S. and Canadian pursuits. He develops, coordinates, and implements the firm’s district energy, power and thermal generation, demand-side energy, and industrial-related work.

Prior to joining CHA, Rich was the Manager of Global Engineering and Environmental Health & Safety for ExxonMobil Chemical and Manager of Manufacturing Engineering for Bausch & Lomb.

Rich holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of New York and a Certified Energy Manager.

Mike Steadman

Mike Steadman has more than 20 years of experience in the design and analysis of heavy industrial building structures, rotating equipment foundations, electrical substations and switchyards, buried piping systems, and submerged HDPE lake water intake piping. He is CHA Canada’s Lead Chief Engineer for the Industry and Energy Group as well as Operations Manager.

Mike holds a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from McMaster University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Ontario and Alberta and is a designated consulting engineer.

Dominic Au

Dominic Au has more than 30 years of international experience in the design and testing of thermal power and combined cycle plants. Dominic is a Senior Mechanical Engineer and a Project Manager at CHA Canada. In 1998, Dominic became one of the principals of CHA Canada.

Prior to joining CHA Canada, Dominic was a Senior Mechanical Engineer with SNC-WP London and Associates and Fluor-Daniels. He started his career with the Hong Kong Electric Co.

Dominic holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Hong Kong and a Masters of Engineering Degree from the University of Calgary. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Ohio and the Provinces of Ontario and Alberta.

John Joyce

John Joyce has more than 20 years of experience gained from the roles of Business Manager for Hatch Energy and Director of Operations for Trenergy Inc. He also has international experience in business development, corporate governance and project execution for the power generation and heavy industrial machinery industries.

John has a Bachelor of Engineering Degree from McMaster University. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the Provinces of Ontario and Alberta.

American Fire is a highly specialized provider of fire protection engineering services throughout the world. American Fire manages complex industrial, commercial and design-build fire protection projects, including sprinkler systems, fire pumps, ground storage tanks, underground piping, and special hazards. American Fire’s engineering team is NICET certified and a member of the National Fire Protection Association.
 
PDT Architects is a full-service, community-based architectural, interior design, and planning firm.
